Honoring Veterans in Facilities Management and Beyond: A Message from FlowPath
Today, on Veterans Day 2024, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of all veterans, including those who have continued to serve their communities in new ways. FlowPath is proud to be a veteran-led organization, co-founded by Marine Corps veteran Alex Cummings, who has built our mission around values learned during his service. As a USMC 1803 Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) Platoon Commander, Alex was responsible for preventive maintenance on armored vehicles, and later, in his role with the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, he supported embassy facilities. These duties inspired the work FlowPath does today in preventive maintenance and facilities management.
For veterans considering their next career move, facilities management is a rewarding path, rich with opportunities to apply skills they’ve gained during their military careers. Veterans bring valuable expertise in leadership, equipment management, and strategic planning—essential skills in this industry. Organizations like IFMA and articles like Veterans in Facilities Maintenance offer veterans support, certifications, and training, making it easier to transition and grow in facilities management.
Facilities management is a forward-thinking, tech-driven field with opportunities to work with advanced IoT devices, AI-driven CMMS systems like FlowPath, and data analytics that help optimize operations. For veterans used to fast-paced environments and evolving responsibilities, facilities management offers an exciting, impactful career where they can continue making a difference.
To all veterans, thank you for your service and dedication. We honor and celebrate you today.
